How to make come back into Software Industry after a long time break (it would be easy if you keep learning new technologies)

I am back into software industry as consultant for automating testing of investment banking applications primarily responsible for creating reference data for smooth trading lifecycle. I know it would be shocking for most of you how come an entrepreneur came back in industry again.

I was frustrated with software industry work culture not with actual work we do in software industry. It was always industry where I want to work for my entire life as it does not allow you to confine yourself. If you are explorative in nature then I would say Software industry is the second place after Research industry of Science (ISRO, India; NASA, USA etc). Software industry is still the top most in the list as there are ample opportunities waiting for software developer to develop.

I could not stop myself to start exploring what all things still to be done. When I was away I never forget to think about what all things I can do.

Good part was whenever I googled I found something new & more interesting to learn. Algorithmic trading was the most interesting to know about. It tells how can Software utilizes its potential to convert tiny gap into massive golden opportunity. Though it was a controversial topic because software developers unknowingly helped their companies on the other hand it was not in favor of retail investor of market.

I was approached by one of my colleague who knows that if there are interesting thing with lots of difficulty then one person can help. His answer was Software Developer so he immediately contacted me about this opportunity.

This opportunity was all about laying down Automation strategy for Enterprise Data Management Application Testing with Microsoft Technologies. I could not say no to him because this EDM softwares were responsible for preparing reference data for Fund/Asset Manager of Institutional Investors.

Institutional investor was the primary entity who initiated the thought for using Information Technology as a tool to make money within trading market. That is where the software developer with innovative mind invented Algorithmic Trading. I will take another opportunity to interact with all of you for giving more insight about Algorithmic Trading.

Coming back to Software Developer, being a developer, I started working in a project as a consultant. In my last blog I wrote about Automation strategy for Desktop application who prepares reference data for Buy-Side firm.

Will talk in more interesting part of Algorithmic trading, What all things I have learnt when I was away from the Software Industry (Primarily focused on Investment Banking, Technologies, Motivational thoughts etc).

One thing I realized that studying & reading never goes in waste as my new learning really made me so strong in laying down strategical view for any problematic situation.
